It’s that time of year again, when our news feeds and inboxes are filled with pictures of smiling graduates in caps and gowns and words of wisdom from celebrities and leaders in all walks of life. Happy Graduation Season!
While we tend to think of late spring as “the” time for graduation at our colleges and universities, the reality is that graduation season is extending across the calendar. Today’s students are changing what it means to go to college, including when and how they finish. And leading institutions are adjusting to meet their needs.
Another thing I am thinking about during this time of pomp and circumstance is what takes for more of our students to get certificates and degrees. One of the things we are learning is that doing the simple things well – like quality online and blended programs or timely advising – can make all the difference on a student’s path. Colleges and universities that are figuring this out are making great strides toward closing access and success gaps.
So as we pause to celebrate our graduates and all they have accomplished, let’s also give a hat tip to the educators, advisors, and innovators who helped them make it to their big day. You can see some of their stories and check out great resources from our partners here.
