Aoun reviews Fareed Zakaria’s new book, “In Defense of the Liberal Arts,” arguing that higher education needs to serve multiple purposes and must embrace what he calls “New Literacy” to encourage, among other things, lifelong learning. Northeastern is a private university in Boston that has more than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
